Press the two lock tabs toward the center, remove the door and replace the door If anyone has a fix for this, please let me know. I am running on Vista. I remember cleaning the carriage bar on an A3 HP printer at my work after it too failed to initialise at start up.

It depends on which operating system you are using. I am out looking for another HP. We had the same grinding noise for the past year or so, off and on. Thanks for all the help!!!
If the error continues you may have a defective cartridge, particularly if you are using refilled cartridges.

I am running on Vista. I have also a problem with my hp printer, which the lights are flashing and with an error message of “remove and check colour cartridge” I bought a new color cartridge and install it but the problem still exist. Looking from the rear, disconnect the three cables on the left. I have had this crappy and gotten the noisy cartridge problem. I just cleaned the glass. The extra light had had an hp2410xii on “the noise”.

Any warranty support needed would be completed by the reseller that sold the product. Took it apart and cleaned it, and lubricated the scanner carriage shaft and moved carriage to half way point as suggested and started back up but this also didn’t work.
Clean the exposed carriage bar on both sides of the scanner head using soft paper towel moistened in alcohol or warm water.
